"Celebration"
This year we have celebrated a Royal Wedding: a year to remember. How many other great events can you remember?
Fifty years ago Diana, Princess of Wales was born. It is also the centenary of the launch of the Titanic, and
the start of Robert Scott’s march to the South Pole; from which he never returned. The lighthouse in Roath Park
Lake, Cardiff was built as a memorial. But all anniversaries this year are dwarfed by the fact that the King
James Bible – otherwise known as the Authorised Version – was published 400 years ago in 1611. Its contribution
to the English language and to the lives of millions of people is unparalleled.
How much more relevant and important are events that took place over 2000 years ago: the life and death of
Jesus Christ and His resurrection. Perhaps it seems too long ago to be important, but God’s word declares that
He "was delivered up because of our offences and was raised again because of our justification".(Romans 4:25)
John wrote in his gospel "that you might believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God; and that believing you
might have life through His name".(John 20:31) That message is just as true today and we invite you to share
with us in the knowledge of Jesus Christ as your Saviour and Lord.
